Description: On December 8, 1988, the launch of A media asta, a book by Chilean poet Carmen Berenguer, took place within the larger context of the Santiago Book Fair, which was being held in Parque Forestal, a green space across the street from the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo. Soledad Bianchi and Raquel Olea were presenting the book. As the event finished, Pedro Lemebel and Francisco Casas did an intervention, turning themselves, through their own bodies and clothes, into the Chilean flag. Lemebel was dressed entirely in red, while Casas wore white pants and a blue shirt, with one star embroidered on his chest and another embroidered on his back. Both were barefoot, holding hands as they dragged a black veil in a gesture of mourning.
